POSITION SUMMARY

The Clinical Psychologist will function as a member of a multidisciplinary team directing and supervising clinical programs and providing clinical services and direction, psychological testing and report writing; treatment planning, group and individual treatment, and re-entry planning.

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Responsible for managing the clinical services.
  2. Responsible for administering and interpreting standardized psychological tests.
  3. Participates in interdisciplinary treatment team meetings and in diagnostic conferences.
  4. Completes mental health assessments.
  5. Provides individual and group counseling as clinically appropriate and agreed upon by the treatment team and/or Psychological Services Director.  Assists in discharge planning and referral process to appropriate resources when an inmate is discharged to the community, work release, or elsewhere in the system.
  6. Provides documentation in accordance with unit policies, procedures, and Health Service Bulletins when recommended and/or indicated.
  7. Contributes to unit development and implementation of written and/or verbally directed clinical procedures.
  8. Participates in mandatory as well as elective educational activities as well as orientation of new staff, and inmate orientation.
  9. Attends weekly staff and treatment team meetings and follows all team/unit protocols.
  10. Adheres to universal precautions and other appropriate infection control practices.
  11. Adheres to safety and security policies, and participates in disaster drills.
  12. Follows security regulations and policies, with consideration of clinical factors.
  13. Provides documentation in accordance with unit policies and procedures.
  14. Receives individual and group supervision by a licensed Psychologist.
  15. Completes case management responsibilities as required.
  16. Completes Biopsychosocial Assessments, treatment plans, mental health reports and summaries, and attends weekly multi-disciplinary treatment planning meetings as scheduled.
  17. Completes chart reviews as required.
  18. Engages in internal audit preparation and review process as directed by the Mental Health Director.
  19. Appropriately recommends/offers input to multi-disciplinary team for clinical services, transfers to alternate levels of care, and/or grade changes when required.
  20. Participates in all mental health watch activities as directed.
  21. Adheres to all Behavioral Health policies and Health Services Bulletins.

The duties and responsibilities outlined herein are not all-inclusive; employees may be assigned other duties as required.

ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS

Standard medical setting in a correctional facility, which includes daily interfacing with inmates, correctional staff and health care personnel.  Temperature extremes may be encountered while moving throughout the facility outdoors and indoors in buildings without air conditioning.


 

TRAVEL: Minimal

LICENSING: Licensed in the State of Florida as a Clinical Psychologist

CERTIFICATION: Current CPR certification

EDUCATION: Doctoral level degree in Psychology

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE: Will have attended an American Psychological Association (APA) approved graduate training program and Internship which provided the appropriate foundation in assessment, intervention and consultation. Prior experience in conducting competency evaluations in working in a forensic setting is preferred. Prior supervisory experience required.
