The EMR Project Manager is accountable for the implementation and training and project management aspects of the Electronic Medical Record system. The EMR Project Manager will work closely with the Vice President of Operations and IT Project Director to ensure all client specifications for the successful installation of the EMR are achieved.  Collaborative, effective interaction with Executives, Department Directors, Physicians and all other clinical staff is essential.


Develops, coordinates, and maintains the overall EMR project plan including setting timelines and advising on project expectations including:

  • Organizes team meetings
  • Develops project timelines and coordinates resources to facilitate implementation
  • Monitors progress of implementation and training activities
  • Consults with EMR Project Team to manage deadlines/project delays and establishes corrective action plan
  • Develops client and staff communication plans
  • Leads process analysis and documentation to ensure client specifications are met and EMR documentation is adequate and reportable including:
  • Facilitates workflow evaluation and coordinates EMR redesign efforts
  • Makes recommendations to revise workflows to improve inefficiencies
  • Ensures client policies, directives, and reporting data are efficiently captured in the EMR
  • Coordinates clinical content customization including forms and templates customization
  • Collaborates with the project team on approval of forms/templates and workflows
  • Coordinates all aspects of training and ensures all users receive adequate/remedial training including:
  • Facilitates initial training for project team and super users
  • Coordinates training for end-users and continually evaluates need for remedial or refresher training
  • Develops Wexford Health training materials including comprehensive training manual, instructional videos and pocket guides
  • Must be detail oriented and able to handle multiple tasks efficiently.
  • Apply project management skills to meet site requirements

Regional office setting. May include standard medical setting in a correctional facility, which can include interfacing with inmates, correctional staff and health care personnel.  Temperature extremes may be encountered while moving throughout the facility outdoors and indoors in buildings without air conditioning.

CPR certification


Graduate from an accredited School of Nursing (preferred)

Preferred experience

Bachelor’s Degree in related field with minimum of 5 years of experience in health care training.

Other preferred knowledge, skills and abilities

  • Software project and/or product management
  • Customer / technical support experience
  • Direct experience with EMR / EHR Systems
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • General math and analytical skills, and planning, administrative and organizational skills essential. 
  • Demonstrated experience meeting multiple deadlines. 
  • Ability to competently manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
  • Ability to work in a stressful environment.
  • Must be able to assist staff with various policies, administrative and organizational projects. "Team-player" as this position requires daily coordination with other coworkers
