Wexford Health has an exceptional opportunity for a Mental Health Professional to join our team of healthcare professionals at Kane County Adult Justice Center in St. Charles, IL.


Provides social work services to patients receiving mental health services.  Duties include assessment, consultation, liaison, and psychotherapeutic interventions as appropriate.  Communicates clinical findings in writing, as well as through consultation with Mental Health Unit staff.


  1. Participates in interdisciplinary treatment team meetings.
  2. Completes comprehensive psychosocial history on each admission to the Mental Health Unit.
  3. Provides individual, family, and group counseling as appropriate.
  4. Assists in discharge planning and referral to appropriate resources when patient is discharged to general population or released from system.
  5. Provides documentation in accordance with unit policies and procedures.
  6. Contributes to Mental Health Unit development and evaluation.
  7. Participates in and conducts in-service programs; assists in orientation of new staff.
  8. Attends mandatory in-services on annual basis.
  9. Adheres to universal precautions and other appropriate infection control practices.
  10. Maintains open lines of communication via attendance at staff meetings and/or use of communication book.
  11. Adheres to safety and security policies and participates in disaster drills.
  12. Follows security regulation policies and participates in disaster drills.
  13. Provides documentation in accordance with unit policies and procedures.
  14. Conforms to Wexford Health Sources, Inc., and facility regulations as appropriate, to include, but not be limited to: dress code, schedule/time sheet, safety and security regulations and procedure for sick leave/vacation time/education seminars.
  15. Maintains the confidentiality of inmate records.
  16. Approaches change in a positive manner.
  17. Makes suggestions for improving work conditions to the Medical Director and Health Services Administrator.
  18. Accepts constructive advice/criticism and learns from it.
  19. Maintains composure in stressful situations.

Standard medical setting within a correctional facility, which includes daily interfacing with offenders/patients, correctional staff, and health care personnel.


TRAVEL: Minimal travel required.

LICENSING: Current state license

CERTIFICATION: Current CPR certification

EDUCATION: Graduate from an accredited university with a MSW, BSW with LSW supervision or LMHP

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE: Experience in working in a clinical setting as a social worker or licensed mental health professional
