POSITION SUMMARY

The infection Control Clerk performs tasks under the supervision of the Infection Control Coordinator and/or Health Services Administrator.  Duties include compilation of infection control data; providing clerical support services to the infection control team; and entry of data into approved systems.

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
  2. Perform clerical duties as assigned and in an accurate and timely manner.
  3. Update reports and type correspondence for the infection control unit; monitor and document weekly report data.
  4. Answer telephone, relay messages and transfer calls as appropriate.
  5. Compile infection control data and input into appropriate reporting document.
  6. Maintain the infection control weekly and monthly report and spreadsheet using Microsoft Excel.
  7. Provide requirements-related information (Annual PPD, HIV, etc.) in a timely fashion while following all compliance standards at all time.
  8. Copy HIV and enter into the State database and infection control spreadsheet.
  9. Schedule appointments for the infection control team.
  10. Maintain confidentiality of all patient information according to HIPAA standards.
  11. Perform other duties as necessary and/or assigned.

ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS

Standard medical setting in a correctional facility, which includes daily interfacing with inmates, correctional staff, and health care personnel.


 

LICENSING: None

CERTIFICATION: Current CPR certification

EDUCATION: High School Diploma or GED equivalent

PREFERREDEXPERIENCE:  

  • Minimum one (1) year of clerical/administrative experience within the last two years.
  • Good organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills are required
  • Ability to perform detail oriented work with frequent interruptions.
  • Experience with working with an Electronic Medical Records (EMR) program(s).Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Power Point, Excel, and Microsoft Access
  • Correctional experience a plus.

  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Strong verbal and communication skills
  • General math and analytical skills, and planning, administrative and organizational skills essential. 
  • Must be a committed self-starter, possess excellent editing
