POSITION SUMMARY
An employee in this class serves as a liaison with substance abuse and mental health service providers and persons with substance abuse problems. The employee is expected to exercise judgment and initiative in carrying out substance abuse, clinical program, and treatment goals in the area to which assigned after an intensive orientation.

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Responsible to provide direct addiction recovery services and consultation services in accordance with the policies and procedures of Wexford, policies and regulations of the New Hampshire Department of Corrections, New Hampshire state statutes concerning the delivery and practice of addiction recovery services, and in accordance with the ethics and standards of the staff member’s discipline.
2. Provision of routine addiction recovery services such as, but not limited to, intake assessments, individual and group intervention, treatment planning, and discharge planning.
3. Provision of consultation services when requested by facility staff, medical staff or mental health staff.
4. Documents all inmate encounters and significant addiction recovery information in SAMS and the Electronic Medical Record in accordance with the policies and procedures of Wexford and the policies and regulations of the New Hampshire Department of Corrections.
5. Participation in staff meetings and in-service training programs as offered by Wexford and the New Hampshire Department of Corrections.
6. Provides other services relating to the functioning of the addiction recovery department as assigned.
7. Responsible to inform Staff Psychiatrist of personal need for additional supervision or overall problems in delivery of services.
8. Responsible to maintain confidentiality of inmate information in accordance with Wexford and New Hampshire Department of Corrections policy.
9. Responsible to interrelate and work effectively with other addiction recovery staff, Wexford administrative, medical and mental health personnel, New Hampshire Department of Corrections staff, inmates and outside support agencies.
10. Participates in interdisciplinary treatment team meetings.
11. Completes addiction services documentation requirements.
12. Provides individual and group counseling as clinically appropriate, and agreed upon by the treatment team and/or Staff Psychiatrist. Assists in discharge planning and referral process to appropriate resources when an inmate is discharged to the community, work release, or elsewhere in the system.
13. Attends weekly staff meetings and follows all team/unit protocols.
14. Follows security regulations and policies, with consideration of clinical factors.
15. Appropriately recommends/offers input to multi-disciplinary team for transfers to alternate levels of care, and/or grade changes when requested.
16. Adheres to all Behavioral Health policies, including but not limited to treatment program admissions, required encounters, and treatment follow up. Performs other related duties as assigned.
Upon receiving the necessary training and/or instruction, performs other related duties as required or assigned.

JOB REQUIREMENTS
LICENSING:  Current license (LADC or Licensed Clinical Addiction Counselor) to deliver addiction recovery services in the state of New Hampshire required.
CERTIFICATION:  Current CPR certification required
EDUCATION:  Bachelor’s degree in Addiction Recovery, Psychology, Social Work, or related field preferred but not required
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:  Professional experience in counseling and guidance, education, public health, rehabilitation counseling, social work, vocational rehabilitation; addiction treatment services or related experience preferred.
