POSITION SUMMARY
Under the direct clinical supervision of the Director of Mental Health, provides social work services to patients receiving mental health services. Duties include re-integration planning and coordination of community placement services, needs assessment, on and off-site consultation and liaison services, and psychotherapeutic assessments, mental health screenings, crisis services and other therapeutic interventions as appropriate. Communicates clinical findings in writing, as well as through consultation with Mental Health staff. .
DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Provides a broad range of mental health services including screening, assessment, crisis intervention services, group and individual therapy, consultation services, re-entry psycho-education, and training.
2. Provide clinical screenings and assessments for treatment needs of patients referred by medical, counseling, security, or other facility staff.
3. Prepare treatment plans on all patients requiring specialized counseling.
4. Provide individual and group counseling for patients identified through evaluation or referred by other qualified mental health professionals.
5. Providing assessments and brief therapy to patients identified as experiencing a psychological/emotional crisis.
6. Consultation to team members on all crisis interventions. Such consultations may be carried out by phone during off duty hours.
7. Training of Crisis Intervention Team members.
8. Maintaining required crisis intervention documentation and monitoring all delivery of service to patients on crisis status.
9. Provide staff training to facility personnel on mental health issues including the function of the Crisis Team and how to access its services.
10. Monitor the provisions of crisis services, in the absence of a Psychologist, to include review of documentation for accuracy, completeness, and fulfillment of Facility directives and procedures.
11. Provide consultation on mental health issues to the facility medical staff.
12. Provide consultation to facility staff and administration on the treatment of specific patients or pertaining to broader Facility program issues impacting the mental health of staff and patients.
13. Monitor the clinical condition and treatment needs of special offender populations (e.g., Guilty but Mentally Ill or patients receiving antipsychotic medication), in the absence of a Psychologist, as determined necessary by facility or agency directive or local policy.
14. Maintain required documentation on all mental health contacts to include submission of a monthly summary report to the agency Chief of Mental Health Services.
15. Provide services in compliance with all Administrative Directives and Departmental Rules.
16. Provide re-entry psycho-educational and advocacy services to mentally ill patients returning to the community upon discharge.
17. Makes suggestions for improving work conditions to the Director of Mental Health and HSA
JOB REQUIREMENTS
The following requirements list the minimum to qualify. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be accepted.
LICENSING: Current, valid Nebraska Clinical Social Worker license
CERTIFICATION: Current CPR certification required
EDUCATION: Master’s Degree in Social Work
EXPERIENCE: Two years post-degree clinical experience preferred; correctional experience preferred
