POSITION:           Certified Nurse Assistant
SCHEDULE:         Full-Time / Every other weekend
FACILITY:             Western Regional Jail
LOCATION:          Barboursville, West Virginia

POSITION SUMMARY
Under clinical supervision from the Director of Nursing, Registered Nurses, Medical Director and/or WVDOC personnel as appropriate, the CNA assists nursing staff with daily operations. Utilizes electronic medical record system as applicable throughout the scope of duties and responsibilities.

1.  Assists in the assessment of the physical, psychological and social dimensions of
patients in the health care unit and, as necessary, in the housing units.
2. Assists in planning and implementing individual treatment programs in the health care
unit and housing units by utilizing available resources and consulting with licensed
practical nurses, registered nurses, PA/NP’s, physicians and correctional officers.
3. Implements medical plan through administering medications and intervention in
accordance with physician instructions.
4. Documents nursing encounters, patient response, effectiveness, complications etc., and
communicates information to supervisory personnel and physicians in accordance with
physician’s orders.
5. Assists in maintaining working and living areas and supplies in good order.
6. Serves as a member of a nursing care and treatment team and assists physician as
assigned.
7. Uses available in-house resource personnel and departments for treatment/consultation.
8. Implements clinical and technical aspects of care in accordance with established policies
and procedures.
9. Takes vital signs (temperature, pulse, respiration and blood pressure).
10. Applies and changes dressings.
11. Provides for emotional and physical comfort and safety of patients.
12. Assists with activities of daily living with special attention to therapeutic significance.

JOB REQUIREMENTS
The following requirements list the minimum to qualify. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be accepted.
LICENSURE:
CERTIFICATION: Current, valid Nursing assistant certificate, current CPR certification
EDUCATION: Completion of a certification program from accredited nursing assistant
program
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:  0-2 Years
