POSITION SUMMARY
Responsible for the direction, oversight, and management of the Accounting Department; essential to the development and growth of the Department; works closely with the Chief Financial Officer and Financial Analysts to ensure timely and accurate financial statements and projections; ensures that all financial contract requirements are met and we are a responsive and innovative partner for all clients, internal and external.
DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES
• Drive a timely monthly close, preparation of financial statements, and presentation of related financial analysis
• Responsible for accuracy and presentation of financial statement line item detail
• Lead financial planning and forecasting effort
• Supervise and manage all accounting group activities, including Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, collections, and cash management functions
• Serve as primary contact for all audits
• Establish and maintain relationships with multiple external parties, including tax professionals, audit teams, banks, legal counsel, and risk management
• Evaluate personnel and implement effective department structure
• Responsible for supervision and management of accounting staff, as well as team member development, performance appraisals, and personnel action plans
• Develop, implement, and monitor departmental goals and objectives
• Build high-performing team capable of expanding current role in organization
• Understand complex accounting transactions and demonstrate basis for significant judgment and estimation
• Participate in Business Development activities and help guide decisions regarding new business opportunities
• Instill discipline and rigor to regular accounting processes
• Document all department processes, including analysis of internal controls and plan to address areas of need
• With Chief Financial Officer and Executive Management team, drive the efficient operation of all company activities
• Effectively communicate and present information to Executive Management team and other internal and external third parties
• Responsible for team preparation for detailed, monthly contract review meetings among all internal stakeholders
• Work to develop creative solutions to complex financial and operational business challenges
• Responsible for updates to Accounting Policy and Procedure manuals
• Ensures appropriate orientation for all new employees and on-going training for all staff
• Works on special projects as assigned by Senior Management
JOB REQUIREMENTS
CERTIFICATION: Certified Public Accountant preferred
EDUCATION: Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or related required
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:
• Minimum 10 years management-level financial accounting experience
• Minimum 5 years supervisory experience
• Healthcare experience preferred
OTHER PREFERRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
• In-depth knowledge of financial accounting principles, practices, and regulations, including GAAP, and healthcare standard practices
• In-depth knowledge of automated financial and accounting reporting systems
• Strong knowledge of payroll principles and practices
• Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to quickly establish working relationships with individuals at all levels of organization
• Collaboration skills and demonstrated ability to lead effective team
• Demonstrated ability to think strategically and provide decision support to Executive Team
• Strong communication skills and the ability to effectively explain complex information
• Strong analytical skills, including the ability to analyze trends and develop action plans based on findings
• Ability to identify, implement, monitor, and analyze relevant metrics models
