A Scheduler is responsible for scheduling outside medical appointments for inmates within
his/her respective site. He/she coordinates appropriate paperwork with security, completes
prep sheets and forwards it to the nursing staff with prep instructions for all procedures requiring
preparations. He/she insures all necessary medical records and other documents accompany
inmate to appointments.
DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Responsible for scheduling outside medical appointments; coordinating appropriate paperwork with security, complete prep sheets and forwarding to nursing staff with prep
instructions for all procedures requiring preparations.
2. Schedule and coordinate all appointments with the appropriate provider.
3. Insure all necessary medical records and other documents accompany inmate to outside appointments.
4. Reviews all consult referrals and obtains approvals for each consult from Wexford Health’s Utilization Review, in accordance to UR procedures.
5. Prepares consults and ADOC transportation requests according to protocol.
6. Organizes, maintains, and keeps records in accordance with Utilization Management Manual.
7. Maintains clinic logs and inputs all statistical data for necessary weekly/monthly reports.
8. Schedules doctors for appropriate specialty on-site clinics.
9. Maintains lists for each clinic, monitoring closely the follow-ups. Schedules and coordinates all appointments with the appropriate provider.
10. Ensures call out is prepared according to institutional procedure.
11. Monitors answered consults to prevent any follow-up appointments being missed.
12. Assists the nurse in appropriate way to help clinics run smoothly – insure the availability of charts, consult sheets, x-rays, or any necessary test results.
13. Ensures history and physicals are completed prior to outpatient surgery.
14. Assists with clerical support duties as requested by the Physician Director or Health Services Administrator.
15. Review all consult referrals for priority ratings and obtaining approvals for each consult from Wexford Utilization Review, in accordance to UR procedures.
16. Maintain clinic logs and input all statistical data for necessary weekly and/or monthly reports for Chronic Clinics and Specialty On-Site Clinics.
JOB REQUIREMENTS

Licensing: N/A
Certification: CPR
Experience: Minimum two-three years medical-related clerical experience; correctional experience preferred
Education: High school diploma or GED equivalent
